Quote of the month: Writing anything as an expert is really poisonous to the writing process, because you lose the quality of discovery. ~Siddhartha Mukherjee

Questions about the Label of Expert
Why do people end up with the label of expert? How do they attain this? Why do others rely on what is considered ‘experts’? What makes experts more knowledgeable or aware than those who aren’t? Is it an identity position? Is it experience? Is it an educational degree? Does this word change how a person relates to themself or others? What happens to make someone not an expert anymore?
Does this word, ‘expert’, give people a higher status? Is it hierarchal? Does it make someone feel more important, more knowledgeable, a better person, or more skilled? Is being an expert about comparing so we can improve ourselves? Or is there judgment of what we or others have or haven’t attained or become aware of?
I offer these questions to really take a breath and drop into ourselves. All words have an energy or frequency with meaning given to them that allows us to discern, feel, and question the relationship we have or want to have with them. It is good time in the world to use our feelings, our body, our discernment, and our wisdom in connection with Creator, to view things that align with our core and inner awareness.
Feeling into those Questions
In feeling into those questions within, do your responses feel curious, light, heavy, upsetting, fun? Let yourself come up with the feelings. Then feel those sensations in your body. Allow yourself to feel what kind of energy this word, ‘expert’, has in your body. Do you like it, feel neutral or don’t like it?
Again, take a breath and drop into yourself. If these questions around the word ‘expert’ felt light and easy, like it could roll off your shoulder and that you can go on without it feeling connected to your world, I wonder if it was ever defined. I then wonder if the word is accepted without question, or if you feel you’ve never been affected by those called experts.
But if you felt some discomfort, or heavier emotions, or thought about those in the world who are called or labeled this, how do you feel about these people? Do they feel just like you? Or are they someone very different? What values do you think they have?
Attempted to label me an expert
In the past, people have attempted to label me an expert in a field of my greatest interest, experience, and passion, which is trauma healing from childhood abuse. This is because I’ve written books on the topic and have had many experiences. I didn’t like the label or word at all. I still don’t.
I could feel that there were expectations attached to their meaning with those who felt a need to call me this. I could feel that the energy included a hierarchal position of status--being above (or below) the other. I’m not one who lives in boxes of other’s definitions of who I am or what I do. My calling has nothing to do with being an ‘expert’, not even of my own life…since it is what flows from me as part of my divinity. I’m not sure how that will show up, but I give the time, effort, or dedication that I feel called to do.
Definition of Expert
I looked up the definition to allow my thought process some intellectual time with the word. "Experts are called in for advice on their respective subject, but they do not always agree on the particulars of a field of study. An expert can be believed, by virtue of credential, training, education, profession, publication or experience, to have special knowledge of a subject beyond that of the average person, sufficient that others may officially (and legally) rely upon the individual's opinion. [notice opinion...it doesn't mean the Truth of the subject]
It is socially constructed; the tools for thinking and scripts for action are jointly constructed within social groups enabling that group jointly to define what an expert is in that domain.” [So it's subjective and imbued with expectations of what needs to be lived up to in order to be and stay an 'expert'']. I appreciated that my body and feelings came up with a similar definition confirming that it doesn’t fit for me.
Learned Helplessness
In the last five years, with so many being called ‘experts’, I have witnessed an immense amount of trauma, sickness, and deaths as part of the collective ‘learned helplessness’. What ‘experts’ say, is somehow expected to be accepted by others as Truth. There were huge consequences in giving away one’s power.
I’ve thought to myself, “What if others’ college degrees were set up with an agenda to do harm, that it was actually embedded in the structural systems (even through symbols or codes), in everything from medicine to social services. Then the masses turn their power over to these ‘experts’ in order to make sense of the information which are really distortions, lies, fake narratives, secret dealings, harvesting of collective energy, and the profits made.” So many of the world’s ‘experts’ are now experiencing the decline of their prestigious positions and ultimately their lives.
Though I didn’t know the depth of the energy of ‘expert’ prior to this plandemic period, I know it now very somatically and energetically. I am so grateful that I did not want it as a label in coming from others, or as a means to give title to what I do. I instead acknowledge myself for who I am, which is really a soul embodied on a journey with a big purpose. It reminds me where I’ve come from and where I’m headed.
Creator’s Perspective and Definition
I also decided to ask Creator what the definition of ‘expert’ is and for ITs perspective of it, just to give balance. In receiving a visual along with somatic feelings, I started laughing. I saw this energy of wisdom and divinity attempt to come into the human mind, and it got jumbled and taken to an ‘ego’ level. Creator’s perspective still let me experience that this isn’t the word that fits me.
I hope each of you take the time to answer the initial questions and decide how you want to be called in doing your divine work or whether that word is going to be applied to others. We are all needed in creatively re-structuring this planet and ourselves.
With care and blessings,
